Job Summary

Analysis of all samples in the stability, process, developmental, pilot lab, cleaning validation and raw material evaluation programs and the execution of other ARD lab work as well as critical analysis and deconstruction of in-house, compendial, and literature methods in theory and practice.  Expertise is required as this work is carried out on developmental batches; therefore an error affects the launch of a Chattem product line and not just a single batch. This position will perform chemistry analysis on all products launched by Chattem with the guidance of the laboratory supervisor and assistance from the Scientist positions. 

Role Specific Responsibilities 

The Development Chemistís duties fall under the scope of the execution of methods in later stages of development.This stage includes the testing of all samples in the developmental, process validation, and cleaning validation programs as well as the execution of sections of developmental and validation projects under supervision.  Critical to this scope of responsibilities is the ability to deconstruct in writing the theoretical, mathematical, and practical aspects of all late-stage ARD work as the final step of development.  This scope also includes all secondary duties essential to the daily operation of a laboratory such as standardization, and tracking of samples and reagents.  It is essential that a person in this position demonstrate the potential skills and problem solving ability to progress to the Development Chemist II position.

Education:  Bachelorís degree from an accredited college in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related field required.  

Experience:  2-4 years of lab experience, which may be covered academically. 

Laboratory Skills:  HPLC, GC, IC, ICP, AA, UV preferred.

Role Specific Competencies:   This position requires extensive use of computer equipment.  Must have a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft business software to include Excel, Word, and Outlook.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. 

Special Requirements:  Position is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee at Chattemís corporate office.  This position may require the ability to travel.
